At a ceremony held at Dignity 四色AV’s St. Rose De Lima Hospital on January 4, 四色AV University College of Pharmacy was to support the College of Pharmacy’s Medicare Call Lab. The grant will support the College’s ongoing commitment to offer assistance to Medicare beneficiaries in navigating Medicare.gov. This program helps qualifying patients on fixed incomes identify programs to help cover healthcare costs, ultimately improving access to healthcare. According to the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services, more than 500,000 senior and disabled patients qualify for Medicare in Nevada.

Navigating open enrollment and selecting benefits can be challenging for many. The Medicare Call Lab provides non-biased information to Medicare beneficiaries so they can make decisions based on their individual and family needs, saving money and improving access to care.

This is the second year the College of Pharmacy’s Medicare Call Lab has received a Dignity 四色AV Community 四色AV Improvement Grant. This year, the College of Pharmacy was one of eight local organizations awarded a portion of $370,000. These include Research, Education and Access for Community 四色AV for its R.E.A.C.H.- ACCESS TO CARE project; Jewish Family Service Agency to improve healthcare access through transportation; Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada for its Help, Hope, and Housing project; Brooke’s Good Deeds for its Pantry Services Plus; Living Grace Homes for its Safe & Sound Campaign; CARE Chest for its CARE Chest 2024 providing free access to durable medical equipment and supplies; and Nevada Future of Nursing FON Action Coalition for its Nayon Nevada: Filipino-American Patient-Centered Outcomes project.

“The Community Grants Program is one way Dignity 四色AV puts our mission and values into practice in our community,” said Sister Katie McGrail, O.P., Chair of the Community Grants Committee. “We are able to work collaboratively with community partners who share our goal of serving the vulnerable and underserved. We are grateful for all the applications we received and congratulate this year’s grant recipients.”

Across Dignity 四色AV nationally, the Community 四色AV Improvement Grants program has awarded more than $90 million to nearly 4,000 health improvement projects since 1991. Grants are funded by contributions from member hospitals and are used to deliver services, strengthen service systems, and improve the health and well-being of vulnerable and underserved populations.
